Comments:
In 2017 War Memorials Trust offered a grant towards works to clean the memorial using natural bristle brushes and a mild soap detergent. Cleaning was followed by the careful removal of defective/loose mortar from the memorial’s construction joints which were repointed with an appropriate lime mortar. The memorial had become eroded with the carvings and inscriptions particularly fragile. A wedge-shaped sandstone plinth was installed at front of memorial surmounted by a new cast bronze plaque with World War I and World War II names. Four new sandstone corner posts were also installed.
