Neither I nor the previous commenter had noticed that the trough in front of the fountain was integral and has the word "Victory" carved on it. This is visible in the Lofthouse Conservation Area Character Appraisal photograph - approved 24 March 2010. Since then the growth of moss, lichen and plants has completely obscured the lettering.
