The unlawful addition of the name KITTY TREVELYAN to this Grade II Listed War Memorial without Listed Building Consent in February 2017, has caused harm to the aesthetic, communal and historic significance of the War Memorial. Under Paragraph 134 of the National Planning Policy Framework, the harm caused is less than substantial, however, it is still harm due to the poor execution of the work/lettering which detracts from the character and appearance of the the War Memorial set within Meavy Conservation Area. There has also been a failure to properly record the name and regiment on the War Memorial in a respectful way that would keep consistency with the existing names on this Grade II Listed War Memorial. For example: Armorel A K Trevelyan should replace the name Kitty Trevelyan.
