As can be seen by comparison of the 2013 photo of the War Memorial on this website with the ones taken today it is in need of a professional clean. In addition small fragments of it have fallen off recently following the completion of a construction project immediately surrounding it on the Market Place and after a cold snap. Professional cleaning and some remedial works are thus required. The maintenance plan for the memorial is to commission a condition survey (for which we are applying for a grant from the War Memorials Trust) and to follow its recommendations in terms of cleaning, remedial works and when a future survey should be done.
