St Augustine's Church has recently submitted an application to the War Memorials Trust for a grant towards the cost of the repair and conservation of the Calvary. We are now waiting to hear the result of the application. If the application is successful we are in a position to begin work very soon. The Imperial War Museum has recently informed us that there are very few wooden calvaries on the War Memorials Register and that wooden calvaries such as ours are particularly uncommon in the County of Sussex.
