Comments:
The surrounding area immediately around the memorial is in fair condition but the tarmac apron is deteriorating in parts and more recent patch up work looks unsightly and is uneven. The memorial stone is in fair condition but aside from the rain present and stone saturated in water the memorial looked dirty with staining and soiling. Inscriptions are becoming unclear due to staining and deterioration of paint to incised inscriptions. The stone work has defected in specific areas particularly at edges of the memorial (potential impact damage) and stepped areas which would require either stone indenting or mortar repairs. Some inappropriate mortar repairs and pointing which is affecting the stone which would require raking out and re-doing in lime. WMT considering grant for works
