On 23rd August 2018, the memorial was cleaned by H Brett and Sons of Watton, Monumental Masons, using a DOFF superheated steam system. The works were undertaken in preparation for the events later in the year to mark the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War 1. The works were funded by a grant from the War Memorials Trust and Beeston with Bittering Parish Council, the owners of the war memorial.
