This condition survey was carried by year 5 pupils at Land of Learning Nursery and Primary School during a visit by War Memorials Trust's Learning Officer in conjunction with Historic England's Heritage Schools Programme. Pupils came to the conclusion that the memorial was in a fair condition. Pupils noted that the area around the memorial was well kept and there were no wobbly paving stones. Pupils felt that there was a small amount of weathering to the stone of the memorial and that parts of it were dirty as a result of pollution. Pupils looking at the inscription identified a couple of areas of slate which were beginning to flake and noticed small amount of mossy growth on the slate panels which they thought would eventually cover the inscription if it was left.
