In 2016 the memorial suffered internal damage to the floors and clock due to water ingress caused by balls blocking the drainage from the roof. A new roof, access hatch, drainage system, floors and clock repairs were completed in 2018 using finance from a War Memorials Trust Grant, Amble Town Council and Community Fundraising.
