Comments:
Ledbury Town Council have applied to The War Memorials Trust for funding to renovate and restore this monument back to original (or close) condition. Over the years the surrounding pavement area has risen above the original level and rainwater run off has caused damage to the Portland Stone base, this will require major repairs and some replacement of the stone. this will also require removal of the stone cobbles and replacing matching with stone slabs with appropriate drainage channels. Also a poor repair from vehicle damage in the 1980's needs sorting and chips and cracks to the to other areas of the memorial require sorting. Some minor works to the glass and ceramic mosaic tiles and letting will also be required. It is planned to have all the works completed in time for 2018 Armistice Commemoration in November.
